Meishan Iron and Steel is located in Yuhuatai District, Nanjing, in the southwest outskirts of the city, 20 km from the downtown area. It is one of the four competitive manufacturing bases of Baoshan Iron and Steel, the core enterprise of China Baowu Group. Meishan Iron and Steel is a whole-process iron and steel consortium integrating mining, coking, sintering, ironmaking, steelmaking, rolling and various other processes. In response to the instruction set by Former Premier Zhou Enlai: “harness the full potential of Mount Meishan’s iron reserve as early as possible”, as well as carrying on the corporate spirit of “pioneering with painstaking efforts and rising with constant innovation”, workers of Meishan Iron and Steel have been adhering to the concepts of high-quality and green development, drawing support from technological innovation and building a competitive million-ton level iron and steel base using advanced ironmaking, steelmaking, hot rolling and cold rolling equipment as well as high-end product manufacturing capacity.

    Meishan Iron and Steel has been building the plant area in line with the standards of 4A-level scenic spots. Aiming to be “above the standard, better than the metropolitan area, integrated with the city” and sticking to the principles of “zero wastewater discharge, ultra-low exhaust emission, no solid waste discharge” as well as “cleaning, greening, beautification, and cultural immersion”, it set the goal of becoming the model representative for the industry in such a beautiful city as Nanjing. Relying on its garden factory, iron and steel culture, process flow, intelligent manufacturing and environmental technology, Meishan Iron and Steel provides quality tourism products under the theme of “How Steel Is Tempered“. It is a demonstration industrial cultural tourism area integrating sightseeing at the steel mill, popular science education, cultural experience and parent-child activities.
